Reframing the regional cooperation in South Asia

The South Asia Economic Summit (SAES) is organized as an annual event, with the five core partners taking turns to host it in their respective countries, namely Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. This year’s SAES took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh from November 4-5.

The SAES platform was established through a collaborative effort involving five prominent think tanks in the region: the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), the Research and Information Centre for Developing Countries (RIS), the South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics, and Environment (SAWTEE), and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). Its primary objective is to convene key stakeholders from the South Asian region and beyond, in a format similar to the Davos style, to engage in discussions and debates that lead to the generation of innovative ideas and actionable plans. The overarching goal is to promote and strengthen South Asian identity and cooperation across various domains.
