Advancing LDCs’ Interests in the WTO Strengthening Participation, Securing Priorities

The project was launched in March 2016 seeking to undertake in-depth research in the articulation of offensive and defensive interests of the LDCs in negotiations. SAWTEE was a knowledge partner of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Bangladesh, in the project from March 2016 to May 2018. The project was funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.

The objective of the project was to enhance the prospects of economic and social development of LDCs through their strengthened participation in the multilateral trading system. It aimed to produce evidence-based policy recommendations in trade-related areas, stimulate knowledge-sharing on trade-related issues, build capacity of relevant actors and undertake effective outreach and policy-influencing activities to promote and secure trade-related interests of LDCs. SAWTEE undertook two research under this project, namely WTO LDCs waiver: Opportunities for Nepal in select sectors and E-Commerce in WTO: Agenda for Nepal.
