Reform and Capacity Building Agenda in the Post Accession Era (RECAB)

Background

RECAB seeks to support the government's initiatives to reform existing policies and laws in light of Nepal's commitment at the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The project is designed with the premise that all the stakeholders especially the government, the private sector and the civil society will have to play their role for the country to benefit from the WTO. Therefore, the project targets to build the capacity of stakeholders including the government, the private sector and the civil society on WTO related issues. Advocacy, Research, Sensitisation, Capacity Building, Information Dissemination, Networking and Alliance Building are the major focus areas of the RECAB project.

RECAB was launched in September 2004 and will be completed in August 2007.

Partners

The project is being implemented jointly with Action Aid Nepal, Kathmandu.

Mission

Contribute towards the process of optimising the benefits as well as mitigating the threats of Nepal's newly acquired membership of the World Trade Organisation.

  • Contributing in the process of legislative and policy reform in the context of Nepal's accession to the WTO by providing informed inputs and ideas.
  • Disseminating information on key issues and concerns for Nepalese stakeholders in the post accession era.
  • Building the capacity of stakeholders to voice their concerns.
  • Advocating for the cause of protecting the interests of poor, marginalised and vulnerable segments of the Nepalese society.
Activities
