SAWTEE in collaboration with The Asia Foundation and FNCCI- Province 1 organized a workshop "Export Potential to neighbouring States in India" on 17 August 2022 in Biratnagar.
Government and private sector both should focus on promoting industries and products that augur well for sustained and inclusive growth and employment, emphasized Dr. Posh Raj Pandey, Chairperson, SAWTEE.
Mr. Rajendra Raut, Central Member, FNCCI-Province 1 said that policy incoherence and inconsistency are holding back Nepal’s exports.
Mr. Abinash Bohara, Central Member, FNCCl, said, "Reducing Nepal’s high logistics costs is a precondition for Nepali firms to be able to meaningfully participate in regional and global value chains."
Mr. Purushottam Ojha, former Commerce Secretary, Government of Nepal, said that product-specific policies and strategies, rather than catch-all policies and strategies, are needed to effectively join regional value chains and tap Nepal’s export potential.
Policymakers, representives from FNCCI and experts participated in the event.
