Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), one of SAWTEE’s member organizations, organized the 5th
South Asia Economic Summit (SAES V) in Islamabad from 11 September to 13 September 2012. SAWTEE was one of the co-organizers of the Summit. The overarching theme of SAES V was “Making growth inclusive and sustainable in South Asia”. The Summit is an annual event initiated in 2008 by a group of leading think tanks in South Asia working in the areas of trade, economics, climate change and sustainable development. The main organizers of SAES I (2008 in Colombo), SAES II (2009 in New Delhi), SAES III (2010 in Kathmandu) and SAES IV (2011 in Dhaka) were Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS), Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), SAWTEE and Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), respectively.
