Trade and climate change diagnostics
SAWTEE undertook a diagnostic study to examine the relation between trade and climate change in the context of Nepal from July to August 2024. The study explored the relationship between climate change and trade in Nepal. It examined how trade can both mitigate and exacerbate the impacts of climate change and how Nepal can leverage trade to facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy. By analyzing current policies, economic impacts, and future opportunities, the objective of the study was to provide a comprehensive understanding of how trade relations can adapt to the realities of a changing climate in Nepal. The resulting report emphasized the need for coherent policies that integrate trade and climate objectives, and the potential for trade to promote the exchange of green technologies and sustainable practices. The study was supported by The Asia Foundation.
