Once reluctant, India now open to power trade to and from Nepal, and beyond
On 02 April, 2022, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Narendra Modi had effective bilateral discussions in New Delhi especially with agreement made on the Joint Vision Statement on Power Sector Cooperation where both the parties agreed upon expanding and further strengthening mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the power sector.
“One most important feature of this vision statement is it aims to promote interdependence between Nepal and India in energy trade at a time when Nepal is heavily dependent on India for trading of goods,” said Dr. Posh Raj Pandey, Chairperson at SAWTEE while sharing his views to The Kathmandu Post.
